Classy Studio vs. generic class platforms

Built for classes. Not concerts.

Eventbrite is great at concerts and ticketed nights. Classy Studio is built for the instructor-led class — minimums, waivers, prep emails, credits, the works.

A class is not an event.

Eventbrite and other generic event tools are built for concerts, conferences, and one-off ticketed nights. They're great at that. They're just not built for what you do.

A class has:

  • A minimum headcount, not just a maximum.
  • Pre-class homework — what to bring, what to wear, where to park.
  • Waivers, often for minors.
  • Series that are one purchase across many sessions.
  • An instructor brand that attendees follow from class to class.
  • Reschedules that need a response, not just a notification.
  • A supply / ingredient cost that makes “just run it half-empty” a bad answer.

Side-by-side: what an instructor actually needs

Why Classy Studio costs less

Classy Studio is just a flat 1.9% service fee on the Pro plan (1% on Business; the free tier is a 2.9% service fee) — plus standard Stripe or Square processing (~2.9% + 30¢), with no per-ticket surcharge. Whichever processor you use, only one processing fee applies — never both. Eventbrite stacks a per-ticket service fee on top of payment processing, so the more seats you sell, the more it adds up.

Example assumes 30 paid seats at $65 each in one currency. Eventbrite figures use published Professional-tier rates (rates last verified June 2026); actual fees vary by plan, region, and payment method. Classy processing example uses Stripe (~2.9% + 30¢); Square rates (~2.9% + 30¢) are identical — only one processor's fee applies per checkout. Classy service fee shown is the Pro-plan rate (1.9%); Business is 1% and the free tier is a 2.9% service fee with a small per-registration minimum. Figures are rounded estimates for illustration only.
